Amethyst is a gemstone which can vary from shades of lilac to deep purple. Amethyst may also show one or both secondary hues, red and blue. Some beads are cloudy in appearance and occasional markings do occur.
Because it has a hardness of seven on the Mohs scale, amethyst is great for forming into beads and using in jewellery.
The beads measure 14mm by 10mm and there are approximately 28 beads on each strand
